DARREN NICHOLLS

May he rest in peace

Darren joined us in December 2014 as our Maintenance Fitter, and was a beloved part of our team, until he passed away in 2021.

Darren ws a real asset to our team at Cherry Hill Coolstores and we miss him.

He was born in Devonport, and a local to our district, having grown up in the region, attending Reece High and gaining a trade as a Fitter and Machinist in the area.

“I did my apprenticeship at Simplot Australia but have had a few jobs since leaving school. I worked at Tas Belting Service and Supplies for four years, Wootton and Byrne Construction (construction and steel works) and I’ve worked on conveyor belts and as a forklift driver.”

Darren held a position with DPM Engineering for a while and helped build the Devonport Aquatic Centre. To us he was our all-rounder, in charge of all maintenance on site, seeing to equipment, belts, bearings, fitting and forklift driving.

Darren was also a handy all-rounder on the cricket pitch and played cricket locally in Sassafras. He loved being outdoors and in his spare time (when not hitting people for six) he enjoyed shooting, fishing and kayaking.

May he rest in peace.
